Ole Miss Game

We had a WONDERFUL weekend in Oxford, MS. Being with our best friends, Nickel & Travis, the Hog win, topped off with some gambling in Tunica who wouldn't?

Our seats were great! 9th row! The players would stand right in front of us during the commercial breaks to get us fired up. I have to say I was not impressed at all with Ole Miss. The stadium was pathetic. It really felt like we were playing a high school team. I was very proud to be wearing red.

Our first time to see each other in a year. Nickel was so happy, she kept saying, I just want to hug you. It was so sweet.

Nickel & I met in graduate school & I feel so lucky to have her as a friend. She is one of those people who is so smart, so pretty, so caring, so fun to be around and you wonder, why is she friends with me?? We try to have a trip once a year, and we have had some fun ones including another trip to Mississippi a few years ago (Vicksburg) where we were surrounded by giant roaches! We left the bed & breakfast in the middle of the night because I refused to sleep there! Anyway, some great memories & I hope many more. I am praying that one day we will live close again.

We had been planning this trip since May when we ordered our season tickets. It had always been a dream of mine to go to an away game. Given the fact that Oxford isn't too terribly far away & that I really wanted to see Houston Nutt get beat in person, it was an easy decision. Travis is currently in the midst of an internship for sports compliance in South Carolina so Nickel flew out to see him on Thursday night and then they drove in together to meet us for the game early Saturday. Did I mention it was an 11:20 a.m. kick off? It was early. Patrick & I got up at 4:00 a.m. to get there. We left the game around 3:00 p.m. and found a restaurant because we were starving. Travis headed back to South Carolina after our late lunch; Nickel & Patrick & I headed to Harrah's Casino in Tunica for the night. We played slots, blackjack, & enjoyed the Paula Deen buffet for breakfast Sunday morning. Yummy omelettes & grits! Then we headed back to North Little Rock to pick up the girls who stayed with Amy & Eric & Luke all weekend. They had so much fun playing dress up, playing at the park, & getting spoiled! We owe Amy & Eric big time for stepping in at the last minute & offering to keep the girls.

On another note: Look what the girls brought home from school on Wednesday. The best part about school is all the cute artwork mommy gets to collect. Pumpkins with their hand prints. I will always treasure!

Pumpkin Patch 2011

We found a great pumpkin patch this weekend, complete with farm animals & lots of corn to play in. The only way I could persuade the girls to leave was the promise of something to drink (in the car of course). They played so hard. I think they may be country girls at heart!

The sandbox full of corn! The girls' favorite part by far. They spent over an hour filling bowls & measuring cups with corn. I was so proud of how they shared & played with the other kids.

"Cow bit me!" Of course we have to have a little drama at the farm. The cow liked Geneva's sunblock a little too much and nicked her finger. The first thing she told the teacher at school on Monday "Cow bit me."

From the Mouths of Two Year Olds

The girls are so funny lately! This is such a cute age. I really need to do a better job recording all of this, but here are some of the latest statements straight from their mouths. If you ever need a laugh, feel free to visit our crazy household!

---As we were walking by the bathroom mirror after her bath tonight: "Geneva so pretty" (as she fluffs her hair with her right hand). I swear!!

---As we walk down the street, Lexa ALWAYS the leader: "Come on, this way" (as she points)

---When Geneva is told that mommy is going to work: "Geneva 'll be okay" (as her lip is puckered out in such a pathetic way)

---As Geneva is doing something dangerous, she knows not to do: "Geneva be careful"

---As Lexa is hiding in mommy's closet: "Sister come here, come here RIGHT NOW"

---As Lexa begs for the baby gate to come down "Go to mommy's closet". They love to play in the walk-in closet!

---Geneva's response to anything funny, especially if Daddy does it "Silly turkey" (from her book Red Hat, Blue Hat, Green Hat).

---The girls listen to classical music as they fall asleep. The CD started skipping and in the baby monitor I hear Geneva say "Oh no, Lexa broke it!"

---Our neighborhood park is currently closed as the surface is getting remodeled/new flooring put in. Geneva walks by everyday, keeping vigil "Geneva's park has a booboo. It'll be okay."

---The girls request their favorite CD first thing in the morning (the UA band), "Razorback Music. Go Hogs Go"

---As the three of us are sitting on our respective potty's in mommy's bathroom, Geneva says "Mommy's stomach hurts"

---As we take our nightly walks, Lexa points to every street light "Lexa turn the light on"

---I ask the girls who their friends are at school "Meredith {their teacher}, Kristina {their teacher}, Isaac, & Molly."

---As we walk down the driveway the girls yell "Write your name" pointing to the sidewalk. They love when I write their names with the sidewalk chalk.

---As I ask Lexa to carry her lunchbox into school "It's heavy!"

---As Patrick yawns, Geneva says "Close your mouth, Daddy"

---Last night as I saw the news that Amanda Knox was freed from jail, I said "she's free, she can go home." So tonight when they heard the ABC World News music come on (while in their highchair), Geneva screams "She's free! She's home!"

We treated the girls to their favorite restaurant Olive Garden last week. As we are eating, Geneva reaches into the giant salad bowl (unbeknown to me), grabs two purple onion rings, places them on her wrists, shakes them up and down and yells, "Geneva makes bracelets"

Also while at Olive Garden, Lexa yells "It's Eric (my brother/her uncle who I might add is the most clean-cut, well groomed, polo shirt/khaki pants guy)." As I turn around to see who she is pointing to, it is a motorcyclist in town for Bikes, Blues, & BBQ in full head to toe leather, a long stringy beard, & a bald head! I had to email Eric & inform him he had a double.
