Florida 2012

We had a wonderful vacation again in Destin, FL this year.  We headed out on Father's Day, June 17th for a week of travels.  It was weird not having to pack high chairs & cribs & only minimal diapers (they still wear "night-night" diapers).  We packed super light this year because I vowed not to over pack for once, one suitcase max per person.  The condo has a washer/dryer so I did laundry every day & we decided to cook in all but one night to save money.  It turned out perfectly!

Granny decided she couldn't get away so SuSu decided to take the empty seat in the van.  We drove about 8 hours Sunday.  The girls did so well!  Much better than last year in the car.  They watched movies until our lunch stop at the Big Banjo Pizza Buffet in Dumas, AR & then on to the Hilton Garden Inn in Jackson, MS for the first night.  Cracker Barrel mac & cheese was on the supper menu after a hotel swim of course.  We shared a nice suite & the girls slept in a sleeper sofa.   We woke up around 6:30 & headed to Destin.  We arrived at the Sea Oats Condos around 1:30 & were happy our room was available as we were an hour & a half before check-in.  We couldn't wait!  SuSu took the van to Publix to stock up on groceries while we changed into swim suits & headed to the beach.

The rest of the week was r-e-l-a-x-a-t-i-o-n.  The girls slept together on a sleeper sofa in the living room while SuSu was across the room in another sleeper sofa.  Mommy & daddy got the king suite.  We woke up around 8:00 every morning.  Ate breakfast in the condo, headed to the beach until lunchtime.  The girls napped after lunch & then we headed back to the beach and/or hotel swimming pool in the afternoon.  We cooked dinner every night except Thursday which was date night at Joe's Crab Shack for mommy & daddy.  Our dinner menus included: fish tacos, boiled shrimp with rice, hawaiian chicken with pineapple, & ultimate nachos.

We left Florida on Saturday morning around 10:00 & made it again to our halfway point, this time staying at the Hampton Inn Jackson because our other hotel was booked.  We ended up liking this one a little better because of the free breakfast :)  We ate Saturday night at the Ruby Tuesday next door to the hotel after swimming once again in the hotel pool.  Sunday night we made it back home & were exhausted but glad to be home.  I made myself wash all of the sheets, towels, & clean every room in the house before we left so that we wouldn't come home to a dirty house, and I am so thankful!

All in all it was a great trip.  The girls love to travel & are so adaptable.  I could really see the girls' bond deepen on this trip.  And of course they loved spending time with SuSu.

Patrick is already planning next year's vacation.  We are thinking a cruise is calling our name.  Maybe a Disney cruise.
Geneva loved running on the sand
She also liked being buried in the sand (pictured here with her beach boyfriend from Louisiana)

Look at those curls!  Her hair is getting lighter & lighter.

Lexa happy to be at the ocean

Cheesing it for the camera.  Notice the sand all over her skin & in her hair.

Sisterly love!

The way I will always remember my little girls.

Amy's Baby Shower

I was honored to co-host a beautiful baby shower for my cousin's wife, Amy, last Saturday at Mi-Mi's Cafe in Little Rock.  Amy & Brad are expecting their first child, Sloan Avery, September 29th.  Everyone had a great time.  Patrick kept the girls because I was not brave enough to take them both with me & do my hosting duties.  Here are a few pictures.  Congratulations, Amy!
Look at all those presents!
The cake!  We did pale pink & lime green decorations.
