Mi-Mi's 89th Birthday

We had a nice get together February 25th to celebrate Mi-Mi's 89th birthday. SuSu rode down in the van with us, and Mi-Mi was gracious enough to host our wild family! The girls did great. We were a little worried about them adapting as they had not spent much time at Mi-Mi's house, but they fit right in. They love their great-grandparents (as do I). The girls spent most of the weekend exploring the large backyard and looking out the kitchen windows at the numerous squirrels & birds. Jean & Paul joined us for lunch of BBQ brisket, pasta salad, beans, coleslaw, & yummy chocolate cake. When we sat down to sing "Happy Birthday" Geneva asked where the party hats & candy were! Guess I can't remember it all! And Lexa stole the show by asking Uncle Paul where his hair was! We laughed & laughed & luckily Paul was a good sport. The girls took a major step forward in their potty training as we forgot their potty seats. So the girls were forced to use the big potty & did great! Geneva did have a couple of meltdowns, which are uncharacteristic. We later found out she was struggling with an ear infection. (Note to self when she tells me she has a "gingerbread man" in her ear, take her to the doctor!!) We look forward to visiting soon. Happy Birthday, Mi-Mi.

Sunglasses

The girls love trying on my sunglasses even if they are upside down.

Ladybugs, Ladybugs

The girls love ladybugs, which probably stems from their classroom name at school & all of the ladybug decorations. On our spring walks we have learned to look for ladybugs. I am questioning the girls maternity (ha ha) because they LOVE bugs of all shapes, sizes, & species even grasshoppers (yuck)! They love to have the ladybugs crawl up their arms. "It tickles."

Geneva pointing to her ladybug
It flew off!
Look at mine!
It's on my finger! (Look at that smile)

Cat In the Hat

The girls favorite cartoon is Cat In The Hat. When I heard Cat was coming to the public library for Dr. Seuss' birthday I couldn't wait to take the girls. I didn't expect (and neither did the library) for there to be hundreds of kids!! The girls patiently waited their turn to meet Cat In The Hat & enjoyed the birthday cake & getting their face painted with whiskers. Their only complaint was that Cat didn't talk. Now they love to "paint" whiskers on each other's faces with their paintbrush.

Boingo Bounce

A few weeks ago we had a brief cold front come through & it was a dreary Tuesday morning (our only day with no scheduled events) so we headed to Boingo Bounce. It is full of "jumpy castles" & giant slides. It is good entertainment for $12 & successfully wore them out so they had a good long afternoon nap. The girls were so much more independent than just 2 months ago when they were there for Carter & Calla's birthday party. Here are a few pictures from my phone.

Lexa at the top of the slide. She climbed up by herself. Once Geneva saw Lexa do it, she too followed.

Lexa was moving too fast for me to take anymore! For those of you who know Lexa I am sure you know what I mean!

Riding Tricycles

The girls are enjoying the nice weather & learning how to pedal their tricycles from Pop. Aren't their helmets cute?

New Use For The Changing Table

On these nice spring days, Whiskey enjoys napping on the changing table with the windows open. The girls just cannot resist leaving him alone. This is what I found upon entering their room yesterday. Do you think the girls have outgrown the changing table?
